Emmy, reminds me somewhat of my last dog. I was assembling a exercise pen and had 3 panels up (of 4). When I got back with the last panel, there was the dog sitting inside the open pen. My father said he was awfully stupid to be sitting there. Not stupid, he knew when something was up, he was supposed to be inside. He didn't steal food off the table, tear up newspaper, and pottied only outside.

His father would always give gates a nudge, if they opened he made good use of it. I'd walk into the kennel and see little yellow puddles marking territory - but, he was always back in his stall, He didn't want to escape I think he just wanted me to know he could if he wanted to. When we first got him at 3.5 months - we put a gate up separating the kitchen from the hallway. He dropped his tennis ball over the gate and then got over the gate , grabbed the ball and brought it back. He would do this often, never trespassed in rest of the house - just exercised himself . I would have considered him a lot like Lacy.

Some critters are thinkers, some are not very good at it. I can deal/work with the critters that don't think much, it's the thinkers that I truly love and will go out of my way to keep as happy as a fenced in critter can be. I have come up with so many that the ( ***critter can't open this gates/doors/latches) it's not funny.

Teila I love that expression, I never heard(read) it before.

But, now I'm hungry. I made 4 Pillsbury crescent rolls yesterday - Then I realized I had no butter or anything to put on them - I ate them plain - they were still very good

So trying to catch up, visually that is. See if I may post a set of piccies...let's see SNOW DAY...Oct 3rd.

First real snow for the pups...do they like fluffy white water...
hu.gif

Taking the ruminants out to the front pasture to clean up the grass, especially in the new tater patch (which then allowed Rick to rototill and make twice as big...man believes you give the grower double the dirt to plant in, man gets TWICE as much taters...shall see next year if'n his theory if fruitful ... uh, VEGful).

Now recall at the beg of September...we did get some snow, and the pups soon discovered the snow that fell of the roofs and accumulated on the ground under them...well that was like a snow cone...so here they are tasting the accumulation in the puppy playground...this round of white never stayed more than the day...but it was substantial in places where it was not melting on warm ground.

"Well girls...WELL?? What is the verdict on snow?"
idunno.gif

Slurpies, chomp and horking...This is SO very delish!
big_smile.png

"Well?, I say "Do pups from DOWN UNDER like the GREAT WHITE NORTH??"
cool.png

What is cold and wet? Canuck dog noses...more so than most canines' snoots.
woot.gif

First snow nose...1st of many, many SNOW snoot NOSES to follow
lol.png

So like if the snow sits well on the end of the dog nose...does that mean the noses of the ACD are well insulated from body heat...does it explain why humans jump three feet in the air when cold noses are pressed into the back of yer knees...or are humans jumping because instinctively, we know teeth nips are not that far removed behind cold, wet noses pressed against tender fleshy parts of our bods? Well, which is it then??

Lacy (a good balancer now too!) finds this white coating a bit slip sliddy (lookit the tail propped opposite for balancing)

Well I expect the pups approve of the snow...not like they gotta roust forage out from under it like the ruminants do. There is that mega benefit of just reaching down for a nice pupper drink whenever you wanna. Pups have yet to investigate snow pile rollings...rolly polllies in the snow are yet to be enjoyed! I still laugh as Makins arrived here in the month of January...and come July, she still figured that if she ran over hill and dale to where winter time winds snow drifted piles of snow...there shoulda bin a pile of snow left for a cool mouthful...shoulda bin...even in JULY. Ha ha ha...boy was she glad when September came rolling in, snows and dogs...hydration at its finest!
