Chapter 16

"Sandy!! SANDY!!!!" Gingernut said as she began to cry and hugged her body.
"How could this happen?" Sunny asked as she got sadder and sadder.
There she lay, lifeless. Her heart had given out from the cold. It just couldn't take it any longer.
"It is my fault," Fenix confessed. "I should never have kicked her out like that."
"She probably felt uncared for," Gingernut said between her hiccups.
"Sandy... you were always a great friend," Nikki said to her.
"What's wrong, mommy," Gabby asked.
"Oh, nothing sweetie," Gingernut said, trying to calm down.

A mountain of dirt lie outside their cave. Their friend Sandy had parted from this world after the blizzard the night before.
