Chapter 37

Bella was torn between two ways. She could look for Rupert, risking her eggs, or stay with her clutch and risk Rupert dying. She wanted to cry.
"Well, I probably wouldn't have made much of a difference anyway," she thought, deciding to stay on her eggs.

"Hey, hey, punk put me down!!!" Rupert yelled, trying to escape the hawk. He only pinched Rupert harder. Rupert finally kicked the hawk with his spurs and fell a long fall. Using his wings to glide to the ground, however, he landed safely. He tried to remember the path that the hawk took to carry him away, and found his way back.

"Rupert! You're safe," Bella cried.
"Of course I am," Rupert remarked. "But you lied to me, telling me that nothing was going to happen..."
"I hate you Rupert."
So, the broody hen sat, content on her eggs, happy that her mate survived, while Rupert went out and fetched some water, without a problem this time.

2 weeks later
"So Bella? Want some more worms? Remember, you'll need the strength to stay up for a week!" Rupert asked.
"R-Rupert, I think they're hatching.

Chapter 38

Bella was right. One of the eggs was already beginning to pip.
"Is it going to be soon," Rupert asked anxiously.
"Well, any minute now, Rupert," Bella replied with excitement.
"What are some names? QUICK," Rupert demanded.
"Since she looks just like you already, we'll call her Bonnie if she's a girl and Rupert Jr. if he's a boy," Bella declared.

1 day after hatching
"My name is Bonnie!! Haha, look chick! MY NAME IS BONNIE!!!!!" she screamed at the top of her lungs at the last pipping egg.
"Bonnie!" Bella scolded, but Bonnie payed no attention.
"Hey I want that leaf!!" Rupert Jr. argued.
"But I want it more!!" Edward argued.
"STOP!!!" Rupert yelled. "You are driving your mother insane!"
"But Daddy....." Belle whined.
"No buts, Belle," Rupert scolded.

"Alright, everyone, quiet! Quiet," Bella yelled.
