"Everyone, listen closely," Rupert announced. "Today is your first day outside."
"What's outside," Bonnie asked.
"You'll see," Rupert replied mysteriously. "Everyone, hop on your mother's back!"
The chicks obeyed, and when they were told to come out, were amazed.
"Wow, what's this thing daddy," Belle asked.
"That's a flower," Rupert replied.
"I want that leaf!!" Bullet demanded.
"But it's mine!!" Bonnie protested.
"No it's mine!!" Bullet argued.
"I want it!" Jerome argued.
"But I want it more!" Bullet argued.
"Hey! Hey! Hey," Rupert scolded. "The leaves and flowers are no one's."
"But daddy I want them," Bonnie whined.
"You can't have them," Rupert replied honestly.

Meanwhile, much activity was going on at Gingernut's cave.
"I wish my feet would stop hurting so much," Leafe complained.
"Mine hurt worse than you," Jazmine whined.
"Girls, shut up, this isn't about who's feet hurt the worst-" Felix said exasperated, until he saw Jazmine's feet. They were huge. She could barely walk on them. Felix scratched it lightly with his feather, while a huge number of flakes chipped off.
"I wish there was something we could do," Jammie commented nearby.
"We need a human," a cockerel in the back said.
"What's a human going to do," Felix replied rudely.
"Do the surgery she needs, jerk," the cockerel challenged.
"Did you just call me a jerk, punk? Do you realize the authority my father has trusted me with," Felix said in a condescending voice.
"So what," the cockerel threatened.
"Okay, if you want the respect you're asking for, fight me," Felix challenged. "If you win this fight, Toby, you'll take charge until our father gets back. You can be mates with whoever you want, all that eggyolk. But if I win, you are not to speak unless I tell you."
"Challenge accepted," the cockerel agreed.
"This is gonna be great," Jazmine commented excitedly.
"Shut up," Leafe demanded rudely.
Hackle feathers went up, and the two stared at each other for what seemed like forever. Then, spurs and feathers everywhere.
