"So, you thought you could defeat me, Toby? Just wait until dad hears about your accomplishment," Felix mocked as he locked the cockerel's head into the ground. Felix had just killed Toby out of anger.
"Felix, you are horrible," Leafe spoke up.
"And what are you going to do about it," he replied condescendingly. Leafe didn't reply. "Good."

"Daddy, what do pink flowers taste like," Bonnie asked.
"Try one," Rupert replied.
"Yuck, they taste horrible," Bonnie commented after she tried one.
"I like them," Bullet protested.
"But they taste horrible," Bonnie argued.
"No, they taste good," Bullet argued.
"Hey, enough of the arguing," Bella scolded.
"Sorry mama," Bullet and Bonnie apologized.

"Hey Fenix," Gingernut said, stopping.
"What is it, Ginger," he replied.
"I think we need to head back to the cave," Gingernut said with worry in her voice.

Chapter 41 (sorry it's short, I don't have much time at this minute)


There they lay. Not a single bird survived. Not even Felix, who was supposed to protect them.
"It's my fault," Sonny said.
"No it's not," Gingernut said.
"Hey mom!!!" Bella cried from a distance.
"Bella?" Gingernut called back.
"Yes, it's us," Rupert cried.
"Great," Fenix thought to himself as he saw the chicks, "they had chicks. Now I'm a grandparent."
"This is your uncle Sonny," Bella introduced.
"The one who saved you from the raccoons?" Rupert Jr. asked.
"Woah woah woah woah woah woah. You weren't supposed to be mates with Rupert," Fenix scolded.
"Hey, she has a right to pick who she wants," Sonny jumped in.
"Sonny, we've already told you that it's a tradition for the alpha female of a hatch to pick mates with another alpha male in an opposite hatch."
"Okay, everyone but Fenix is to go into the field," Nikki ordered. They all listened.
"Fenix, you still have a daughter! Why isn't that good enough for you," Nikki scolded.
"That's not it," Fenix said, "it's just that I want my rules followed."
"Aw, come on Fenix," Nikki convinced, "you get to be honored now that you have chicks."
"Alright," Fenix sighed.
"Hey, what's going on," Gingernut cried from across the field after a cry was heard. It was Bonnie.
