Chapter 46


Nikki was alarmed. A chicken predator, following a dead smell..? This was all too suspicious.
“Stay calm…” Nikki thought as she began to panic. “Maybe he’s just looking for something…”
She tried her best not to panic, but she couldn’t help it. She was beginning to hyperventilate, so she had to stop and rest. She fell asleep, for much longer than she had expected.

Meanwhile, Gingernut, Sunny, and Jazzy were all beginning to get a little concerned because Nikki had been gone for about 2 weeks now. This wasn’t Nikki’s behavior. She was always back in a week, at most.
“Fenix, do you think we should look for her,” Gingernut asked.
“Not yet,” Fenix replied. “She’s a cat. She can take care of herself.”
“Fenix, even a cat couldn’t stand up to a coyote by itself,” Jazzy protested.
“Don’t underestimate her,” Fenix warned. “She clawed me that day when I got after Bella for switching mates. That wound hasn’t healed yet.”
“Fenix, let’s just go look for her,” Sunny demanded.
“Give her another day to come home,” Fenix argued. “If she doesn’t come home by tomorrow night, we’ll search.”

When Nikki woke up, the sky was dark and shimmering with sparkles. She was just getting hypnotized when she remembered…
“Ah! Bonnie and Bullet,” she cried, charging off. The smell was starting to disappear, but she did her best to continue following it.

After a while, the smell was beginning to get stronger… and stronger. She trailed it towards a much smaller cave, where the smell was the strongest. Nikki was repulsed, but she pulled herself together. At the edge of the cave, however, she saw a horrifying scene!
