Quote:
I hope your right Silkie.

Silkie roos have "short man syndrome". Sorry short guys.

You need to tell him over and over what a GREAT guy he is, and of COURSE he's big, and very fertile.. that all the ladies want him..

Male egos are so fragile.

OTOH, I have a little pullet who just would NOT integrate. I tried for 3 mos with her. Finally, I brought her in. She's currently living in our laundry room in a huge brooder box with 2 12wk old chicks. Everyone seems to be getting along swimmingly. No one picks on her, and since they are smaller she isn't really willing to take any crap (although her slightly larger size intimidates them, so they don't even try).

So maybe your guy is just the foundation bird for a new flock! Give him a try with your silkie. A bit of time with his very own, gentle girl might be just what he needs. Ask my dh.

I just checked him and he is doing well with our silkie and 7 week old
Splash Orp pullet.

I set the barn temp at 40 so they'll be nice and toasty.

The idea of raising him with a new group is a good idea. Trouble is
my bators are staying OFF until I get rid of the extra 40 birds I already
have.
