Okay folks so I have a huge favor. I'm getting some JM Pharaoh eggs for my first ever eggs. I've hear there are special challenges with these eggs in incubators because of their size and they also need more room. I need to know as much as you can tell me about raising these birds. Do they need more than 1 sqft. of space in a pen? Do they need more than 12" for the height of the pen? Another words, help.....

They are a few grams larger than standard eggs. How much is a gram? Less than 1/28th of an ounce. They won't be noticeably different than standard quail eggs if you don't have any standard eggs. If you did, you'd say "Hey, these are a bit larger".

1 square foot per bird, 12" high cage is plenty of room. They are noticeably smaller than ostriches.

Em Ty,
I got a good laugh from this. Okay so than it's really not a big deal. I have seen some very small quail eggs and some medium size ones, but I don't think I've seen the jumbo size. I'll know a bit more when I get them.

I'm glad they really don't need more room, that's wonderful!

Thank You,

My A&M lay 20 gram single yolk eggs quiet often. last pic is a bantam egg for comparison.

Jet Cat,
Thank you for sharing the pictures. It's hard to tell the difference in a percent, but they seem bigger than a half of the Bantom, for sure. The Bantom is quite a bit wider and of course taller. Thank you for showing me the difference. I've seen Bantom eggs in real life, just a long..... time ago. I'm curious, do you weigh all your eggs to determine which ones you will hatch?

Thank You,
SuseyQ
