Hello, thanks for letting me join this group. I’m looking forward to learning about the beginning to end steps with having backyard chickens. Any tips and info would be great. Also looking for some basic DIY coop ideas for 4-6 birds!

Hi Joe,
I'm in AZ north of phoenix, moving soon to a little closer to the valley. You'll want to make something with removable panels so you can get good air circulation in the summer. I'm going to build a simple roost inside a predator proof run, and have electric to it so I can run a fan, maybe even a portable swamp cooler, during the summer when the temp is still 100 degrees plus at bedtime. There are some great ideas on BYC, like the desert oasis. If you can keep the mice out, that'll help keep the mice's predators (snakes) out also. best of luck!
