I am new to raising ducks. I had a female Pekin wander onto our property about seven months ago. Because she was our one and only, I picked up two ducks at the hardware store, not knowing what sex or breed they were. As the months passed, I now have two adult males, a Welsh Harlequin and a Cayuga, and the female Pekin. They are what we call The Three Amigos.

I found Backyard Chicken while searching for duck behaviors. My two males are making honking-whistle sounds. I figured that it is some type of mating ritual, but I'm not sure. I seriously thought that they were imitating our neighbor's mule.

I am a retired engineer who is too busy taking care of our property to even think about a hobby. I suppose that my hobby is just keeping things together: Property, house remodelling, cars, trailer, animals, etc. You know, the "stuff" of life.

My wife is an author and my kids and grandkids are in Kansas.

so glad you have joined us.

I have no experience with ducks, but for chickens a ration of 2 males : 1 female would not work out and bet it's the same for your flock.

I would suggest you post the question/issue to the Ducks forum to get some experienced opines and suggestions.

Good luck with the new adventure, hope The Three Amigos can live together in harmony.
