In about 5 more weeks you can tell gender by voice. Drakes will get a raspy and whisper-sounding voice, while hens will take on the loud deep quack that you are probably used to hearing.

Can anyone tell me the type and gender of my ducklings?

The females will start quacking at about 8 weeks, so I would wait till their 8 weeks old.

Be careful that's a huge pond it might be very hard to get them out of it into safety at night time. One of the most common problems I see on here are people who's ducks won't come out of the pond to the safety of the coop, and it can often result in duck fatalities.

Ok! This was the drake. He had green, blue, purple, copper color on his head and all over his body.

That drake is so handsome! And lovely ladies to boot! The middle girl looks a lot like my Popsicle, my favorite coloring of Anconas.

What I did to help identify mine at a young age was I was able to tell by their tale feathers. The makes will have like one long curled feather at the end called a drake feather

14 of the ducklings hatched, but one was weak and died. We thought a second one was going to die but she is pulling through fine! I call her Meez.
