Hi everyone 👋 thanks for having me! I've just posted for the first time in the hatching and incubation section, looking for advice after a failed hatch. Feeling incredibly gloomy today as you can imagine but I'm very pleased to join you all and hopefully learn from my mistakes 💚

(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

We've had ex battery hens for around four years, they're great!

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

Five hens and two ducks

(3) What breeds do you have?

Ex battery... Warrens? And Aylesbury ducks

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

The incredible little personalities they have! Each one is different and it's so heartwarming to build a bond with them.

(5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Spending time with the kids, arts & crafts, gardening, eating and sleeping 😬

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

There's me, my husband, eldest son (3years), youngest son (1year), Border Collie bitch (6years) and Samoyed bitch (5years). I'm a dog groomer with my own business. Life is very busy between running two salons, taking care of the kids, dogs, three allotment plots and the birds! But we wouldn't have it any other way 😉

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Found you guys by frantically googling all things poultry on almost a daily basis 💚 so much knowledge here! Finally joined after a horrible hatching experience, hoping to find answers and maybe some comfort to allow me to come to terms with it.

Welcome to BackYard Chickens! It's great to have you here. Don't feel too bad about the failed incubation -- sometimes things happen.
I hope that you and your family are doing well and staying safe from the virus, and good luck with your flock.
Stay safe!
