I'm looking for advice from those experienced with joining two groups of ducks together. I've got a group of 13 golden 300's (10 female, 3 male) that are a tad over 1 year old, who live in a separate coop and stay outside in a separate pen as well. My other group are 15 Welsh Harlequins (13 female, 2 male) who are about 14 or so weeks old.
I'd like to join them together in a single outside pen and ideally have them be in the same coop as well (their coops are actually repurposed horse stalls in my barn).
The alpha in the 300's is a male and the other two males are a little aggressive with their.. "needs". From what I can tell, the alpha in the Harlequins is one of the females and the two males seem fairly passive.
I'm wondering if I shouldn't wait until Sept when mating season is done or try isolating the three 300 males for a period when they integrate, but I'm a little worried about taking the alpha out of the equation.
Any suggestions? Advice? Experience?
