MGG, you chimed in on my thermometer issues on another thread. You said raise my temp to 102°. I came back here to make sure I read someone say they hatched a lot of eggs with this incubator.I have that one too, I use a two small jar lids under the turning tray. It keeps the humidity right where it should be. If you pour it in the bottom there's a lot of water surface area, which makes the humidity skyrocket. Lowering the surface area by filling just some jar lids helps a lot. I have hatched over a hundred eggs in this incubator and I've never had a hatch rate lower than 90% in it. Its a good incubator but takes some figuring out.
Oh, I thought you said you had a still air incubator? The Janoel 12 is a forced air (has a fan) incubator. The temp in the Janoel 12 should be 99.5. To change the temp hold in on the set button, but the plus or minus until it's where you want the temp, and then hit set again. Then wait a few seconds and hit the set button to lale sure it reads where you put the temp. Good luck!MGG, you chimed in on my thermometer issues on another thread. You said raise my temp to 102°. I tried last knight but it was saying and doing strange things. Thanks
I just looked up what dh got me and yes it is a Jonelle 12. You Your sure it has a fan? Cool! And Thank You for instructionsOh, I thought you said you had a still air incubator? Yup! It's in the top. If you unplug the lid and look in it there's a black fan in there. Your welcome, glad I could help!I just looked up what dh got me and yes it is a Jonelle 12. You Your sure it has a fan? Cool! And Thank You for instructions.
If you click through the settings there’s hu setting that is adjustable so that you can turn up the humidity at the end for hatching. Didn’t know this at first but figured it out later.
Great to know. I saw it and guessed that was what it was but still haven't figured out changing it.If you click through the settings there’s hu setting that is adjustable so that you can turn up the humidity at the end for hatching. Didn’t know this at first but figured it out later.
It came today. I will use it at day 7 check. It will be hard to wait.Yes, I know there are many different ideas out there but I would affirm some of the above. I don't have that incubator but with my incubator I've also had difficulty keeping the humidity LOW - like 30-50% - somewhere in there. It is as mentioned above, the surface area is so large in the bottom tray that it either spikes way up or you have to pretty much wait for the water to dry out completely and only add small amounts. What has worked well for me is that I've put a couple of sponges on one side that I just try to keep moist and I think they are helping more of a 'slow release' of the humidity. I like the idea of two small caps or jar lids, maybe like an apple juice lid? I might try that next time in fact - reducing surface area I think is key. I'd also suggest getting a good candle light, I know you can use a phone but it's easier with a real candle light. Good luck!
I think that is the million dollar question. I think Fait rather than mess with it I will use caps or lids when it's time to raise humidity. Then when these eggs are finished i have a lot of fiddling to do.I didnt know this!
How the heck does it control humidity?!
