Exactly what is a Jubilee Orp? Sorry a little clueless

Jubilee is the mille fleur pattern on Orpington. You can see the jubilee and diamond jubilee coloring here. http://www.jubileeorpingtons.co.uk/id1.html We are working towards both colors (light and dark) with two separate lines.

Mary, I couldn't speculate when they will be "perfect". I tend to think no bird is perfect, but we will breed towards the US SOP and see how it goes. I believe we have a ways to go on them to continue our work on color and conformation. We had a ton of birds from this grouping and culled half a couple months ago and just culled half again this past week. These are my selections to grow out further and see how they progress as they continue to grow out. I'm sure I'll cull again before I'm satisfied with my final picks to continue our work.

The color is beautiful. I'd be interested to know how many birds you have to raise each year in order to adequately work on a new color variety? Also, what did you use for parent stock to get the mille fleur coloring?

Pitter Patter goes my heart. Jody, I love the color and I bet you are proud. I am working on two Mottled breeds and the mottling needs some work still. You have the most exciting projects going. Congrats.

Freeholder, for most of my projects, it requires a lot of hatching and culling. I find doing larger volume helps you to cull for better results. For these birds, we used Speckled Sussex and Black mottled orps as our start. We have another group going where we used Speckled Sussex and Buff Orps.

Thanks Jaynie and Katy! I really thought I got in over my head on this color, but it is turning out to be a lot of fun. Can't wait to share pics of the next generation of the Buff crosses.

I was thinking about making some Millie and Porcelain Orps, until I saw you had gotten so far. So I think I'll just leave that to you while I focus on something (easier) else I have in mind

I must confess.......I love the two in the second picture. Is that Mottled the same one in the middle of the first picture - getting a look see at the camera? Love the color on the Jubilee.
