Not a whole lot of reason to this other than to post pictures of my girl as she grows. She was by far my most expensive chick when I bought and picked up chicks at the hatchery April 20th. Also an impulse buy as the hatchery put what chicks they had left over after filling orders on hatch day back up on the website and the jubilee orps. availability popped up again. Thankfully they were kind enough to add her to my order that had already been packaged. Right now she’s 2 weeks old and is already my biggest chick.

No names for her yet.

( also, it’s possible i took a picture of the wrong chick lol. i have some speckled sussex chicks too )

Looking forward to seeing how she grows :pop

Thanks for sharing pictures!
I really am too. She’s supposed to be the English strain jubilee, so it will be interesting to see how she stacks up against the lavender orpingtons I bought that are the American strain. She’s definitely bigger than them, the only other chick I have that’s around the same size is one of my EEs.

Well, she’s 3 weeks old today and is growing fast. I even decided to name her Maisy, so there’s that too. I do have a bit of a genetics question: if I breed an American strain lavender orpington over her, would their offspring look more like the English, American or a mix of both strains? As for color, I have a vague idea that they’d all be lavender the F1 generation. If I crossed any offspring back to her, would there be a lavender/jubilee looking chick? Or would they be either jubilee or lavender?

Maisy is 4 weeks old and growing great! She’s still in the ugly teenager phase, though.

Curious what she will look like! :popI just hatched 8 Jubliees and can't wait to see what they look like feathered out.

I just found out my 10 week older English jubilee is a cockerel and I’m devastated. They are beautiful birds!

Do you have a picture of what he looked Iike as a chick? I was told the darker the chick the darker the mahogany coloring. Yours has a lot of white! He's very handsome.
