July 13, 2011 Hatch Day! STARTED!!!!

Not yet but it's trying. I believe it will make it.

Came home to power so I went back to the rental and carried the incubator home. Trucks were still blocking the entrance and I parked a block away and slogged home through yet another afternoon monsoon.

These eggs might be tougher than I am!

That so funny...kinda like the weird dreams you have when your pegnant, lol. I had a dream the other night that I looked in the incubator and one of the eggs had broke open or exploded and there was a puddle of goo or liquid or something on the egg turner and I looked closer and my eyes focused on the liquid substance and I realized it was a chick, a very big chick! Like you said...dreams...lol. I gotta say, it made me get up and check on my eggs!

Okay I'm disappointed they didn't hatch today as it's Hatch Day on our calendar, but I know it isn't in my timing that it will happen. So I'll go to bed and pray that they hatch tomorrow. We still have alot of moving going on and a few new ones seem to be shaking too. Maybe they are just slow growers.

Omg omg omg!!!

lmao!! I'm on Day 22, have 7 hatched and several more pipped. So you could easily go well into Saturday morning on yours!
It's very exciting. Be prepared for a whole lot of nothing for 5 hrs after the 1st pip though.
(Yea, right, like I'm an expert beings it's my 1st hatch).

You are SO funny lol! It really is exciting. All I was hoping for out of these shipped eggs is *1* Blue Cochin. And so far I have *5* Blue Cochins and several more pipped! So I'm thrilled. All different shades of gray, too

Check this out... on my way home from work yesterday, I spotted a baby bird trying to cross the road... I pulled over anxiously hoping I was about to find a wild turkey poult, but much to my surprise, it was a mocking bird... the state bird of Tennessee. It's super illegal to try to keep one, but I threw it in with my week old banty cochins and they've done an excellent job of keeping it company and keeping it warm. I only intend to feed it till it can fly, then I'll let it go and hope my cat doesn't kill it. I think it will only need a week or so. See if you can spot it in this pic... ( i'm feeding it fishing worms, and it seems to really love them... )
