July Hatch-a-long

I have 11 ameracauna mix eggs in the incubator and they have 6 days left due on july 31st and there is 3 of the 11 that are supposed to hatch on August 1st...I can't wait I'm sooo excited!!!!! I hope all of them hatch

I have 2 of them, one hatched out of a so-called Rhode Island Red (prob red sex link) & the other hatched from my black sex link! The dad was a blue/black marans x

I have some Lav Ams and Lav Orps due the 31st also

Amercauna crosses ......Now tell me do you know if you cross an Amercauna with another regular chicken is it an EE? Thats my understanding Anyone know for sure?

Well, getting close now. Day 19 in the morning. Went ahead and raised my humidity to 70% tonight. Its stayed around 45/50% the whole time without adding water. As luck would have it, day 21 is Sunday, the same as my June hatch was. However, last month when I woke up on Friday morning one had already pipped. So we will see in the morning. Hope it goes as well as last months. Does anybody cut there fan off once hatching starts? I didn't last month and didn't have any problems as I just made sure to keep the humidity up but I guess the fan is really not needed at that point is it?

The early bird is still alive, just laying in the incubator sleeping. I don't know about those dead chicks, that's never happened before. They usually at least pip

They're Silkies, and I've always had a difficult time hatching their eggs. They hatch just fine under my broodies though, so I don't think its an issue with my breeders or anything. There are 4 chicks out so far, including the iffy one. The eggs will be on day 23 at about 4:45 pm today. So, they aren't super late. The only reason I checked them is because there was a TON of taping coming from them last night and then nothing this morning. Not a wiggle or peep. Oh well, I think I'll just let the hens handle the hatching unless I'm desperate....or get a better incubator. My thermometer may have been off, too. I calibrated it before I started, but I dropped it on the floor a couple of tines along the way. Always something

If they are tapping maybe they will hatch yet
. You know I read that the Chinese or commercial chick farms not sure which put a pin hole in the air cell of each egg so the babies can get air and dont smother before hatch I thought about that but got chicken on my last hatch thought I might poke them.

Well this is what hatched so far and no more pips
2 or 3 Lav Amercaunas are due tomorrow too
I dont think any are the Palominos

but gotta go back and see what they looked like new.
They are bantams and some of these are little but not bantam size I dont think

So far got 8 chicks but 3 are Lav Ams and the other 3 are mixed by a Lav Am roo with i think my Light Brahma hens but great... they look just like the LAMS!! I THINK the 3 smallest are the LAMs
Also had this interesting little mix guy... yellow with a big black dot ..shes(hope shes) a keeper! Not sure whos baby daddy here

TADA!! Stil have maybe 10 eggs in but for me 8 is a good hatch .Do ya think after over a year hatching almost WEEKLY I MIGHT have got it right? FINALLY????

I kept my fan on, & will continue. I like the fan, it keeps temps stable, & fluctuate much less. Although I would love to try dry hatching, I've heard hatcheries do it & have a higher success rate.
