July Hatch-a-long

So, I had 9 eggs left. Candled them and 4 are still alive. The other 5 were fully developed, had absorbed their veins and yolks. They just never pipped. Internally or externally. They weren't malposistioned. I don't know what happened there. But, while I was doing an eggtopsie on them, another chick hatched out in the incubator

I checked the egg and didn't see a pip, weird. It looks a bit early too. Its yolk is absorbed, but there was quite a bit of blood. There are 3 left to batch, I'm going to keep an eye on them. This is the weirdest hatch I've ever had. The egg with the duct tape band aid hatches just fine, the eggs that were perfectly intact don't do squat and now this early hatchling. It doesn't look good, but I'm going to leave it in the bator ad hope it survives. Oh well, I think after these last few eggs do whatever, I'm going to put my incy away for the year.
I've got 2 broodys now though, so I'm all in for the Aug hatch! They're sitting on 10 Sizzle eggs

What day are you? Poor little guy who knows though maybe he'll make it,
Sometimes there are some slow guys to hatch just need time.
Strange about the perfect but non pipped eggs isnt it? Humm wonder what happened? What breed? Some I have read go to the end and die before hatch Cant think of the breed though
How many chix have you had hatch so far?GOOD LUCK on yours still- alive- but- haven't- hatched. Slow pokes!

Day 21 8 am HATCH DAY ! ive got some action
About 5 eggs pipping .
I dont know if I should be excited.
I had some palomino Bantam Brahamas my grand daughter loved but too many chickens around here I had an offer and sold them all then collected the eggs that were in the coop.
BUT.... other free rangers would sneak in and lay there too.
When the pals left they had never had a fertile egg or not one that ever hatched in a few months since they had been laying.
These hatching are the group I gathered from that coop so hopefully

one or 2 are bantam Brahamas or my grand daughter will be mad at me.
Thing is those little mutts really hatch well and all these pips ....im thinking are them.
Well who knows..guess ill find out by tomorrow anyway

So far my LAMS arent pipping but more often than not my chicks are a day late so im not worried

Just hope I put the right set into lockdown as I have another set in the other bator I got these out of , that have another 5 days before hatch. GUH.
Ive had some surprise hatches in the non- locked down bators before.Wont be a first !

DANG! DID MESS UP! !

4 PIPS ON THE LAMS IN THE NON- LOCKED DOWN BATOR!! WHOOPS!
.Had to open the locked down bator to put in the pipped Lavender Amercaunas & take out the too earlys . Shoot!!
Upped the humidity to 67 wit h a spray bottle Hope it helped and they all arent shrink wrapped now after openjng it
Hope I didnt drowned the too earlier birds with the higher humidity Guess I wont know for another 5 days.

Every hatch there is some glitch for me .Guess its what makes it interesting.

Fantastic! I've got a 14 week old Buff Orpington cockerel taking an interest thru the wire fence at my 3 week & 8 week old chicks. Gotta love it!

I hope your little egg makes it! My duct tape egg had a hole on the air cell, so I think that played a big part in its survival. I'm not sure how it would have faired if I'd broke it on the side or bottom.

Ducky's doing great this morning, fluffy and cute. The mobile website is being a butt about uploading my pics, but I'll keep trying. I also woke up to one more chick running around the bator. The 3 off them have apparently been playing soccer with the other eggs all night, so I have no idea what's going on with the rest of them. I'm well into day 22 now, so I may candle them in a bit to see if they're still alive. I heard lots if tapping last night while the others were hatching, but can't see any pips or anything, so...... I dunno

I have a hen on some eggs too I think are to hatch today or next few days
Stupid me doesn't write it down when I TOLD myself to.!SOO disorganizedI put starter and water in in case
One LAM egg had been squished off the edge and broke 3 were still warm but she wasnt on them Treid to put them in but idont know must be a slew under her
.Have NO idea whats under her.
I had put about 6 or 7 LOs and LAMs in myself but dont know whats there as she never gets off that I see and gets upset if I peek in at her. THINK I took all the other eggs out but one but then one day I saw another girl sitting smashed up against this broody so don't know how many she has sneaked in there too for poor BO broody girl .



OMY GOSH!! Just put the star cracked LAMS in the lock bator what ?1/2 hour ago and 2 have hatched and one is almost all zipped!!
2 other eggs are zipping also .They are in a hurry!!

Silly hens! I've seen all 3 of mine get off their nests at least once if not 2 or even 3x/day. Yep, 3x during the heat wave. Makes sense.

Wel lshe has to get off sometime b/c I dont leave food in all the time for her so shed starve (a tractor coop )She has a sister too and i cant tell them apart so maybe she has gotten off sometime and it hought it was the other .I just never see it but the one time I slipped eggs into her nest and took others out. Wish she would so I can see whats there.! the heat I dont know what she did but the coop sits in shade all day and nest is at the bottom plus the floor is hardware cloth with some straw on it so maybe its cool enough Oh i also opened a low door on it floor level so she gets more air.Top and bottom

3 are mutts but 2 look like silver Dad is a Lav AM so hope I can tell them apart from the REAL Lav AMs!! They seem smaller though for now the light one is Light Brahma hen by either the Black ORP roo M2 DAd or the LAM roo Dad Meanie
If the Lav AM then they are EEs
Think they all 3 are but 2 for sure .2 star pips yet for sure but they are sure getting rolled Cant look!
