I love that one with the black spot on it!!! Soo cute!!
I kept my fan on, & will continue. I like the fan, it keeps temps stable, & fluctuate much less. Although I would love to try dry hatching, I've heard hatcheries do it & have a higher success rate.
I think I had 31 out of 38 hatch last time and 6 of those ended up not being fertile. So I don't guess I'll change anything for now. I have noticed that my bator seems to actually want to drop a degree or two the last couple days each hatch which I thought odd. Other than that it stays pretty stable.

Mine did the same thing! It kept going down to 95, when it would mostly stay at 99-100, & would get down to 97 but not for long.

Well this is what hatched so far and no more pips 2 or 3 Lav Amercaunas are due tomorrow too I dont think any are the Palominos

but gotta go back and see what they looked like new. They are bantams and some of these are little but not bantam size I dont think So far got 8 chicks but 3 are Lav Ams and the other 3 are mixed by a Lav Am roo with i think my Light Brahma hens but great... they look just like the LAMS!! I THINK the 3 smallest are the LAMs Also had this interesting little mix guy... yellow with a big black dot ..shes(hope shes) a keeper! Not sure whos baby daddy here .2 choices on all mixed Lav Am roo or Black part English BBS Orp roo Here they all are.. TADA!! Stil have maybe 10 eggs in but for me 8 is a good hatch .Do ya think after over a year hatching almost WEEKLY I MIGHT have got it right? FINALLY????
wouldn't the one with spot be a slash? My splash Cochin was like that as a chick. Either way their all cute. First broody suppose to start tomorrow but husband has a softball tourney so I won't be home. Daughter will be though to send me reports of how its going.

some think the cooling daily is beneficial.....I was reading that just the other day and some of the better incubators have a setting to allow cooling
I have read that as well, some open their incubator and leave the lid off for 15 minutes... I'm too scared to try, but maybe I will try a small batch after this. I do use Dr. Bramwell's method and plug the vents the first 10 days, then open all of them after that.

Yeah, my Brinsea has the auto cooling feature, but I haven't tried it. They have a lot of research to back it up. I haven't used it because it can delay your hatch, and I'm too impatient. Plus, I'm already getting great hatch rates in that incubator, so I figured why fix what's not broken?

Wow! Congrats on all the new chicks - looking great!

I've heard if you have a forced air unit, that you can't turn off the fan for last 3 days, its better to hatch them in a still air unit. I tried to do it that way last time, but my new digital genesis was defective. Hygrometer reading 10% low. GQF won't honour warranty in Canada. Anywho, is ok. I will use separate hygrometer in the unit & try this again next spring.

Glad you found us, chicken farmer! Good luck to you & everybody here still hatching!

I guess my broodies are in lockdown mode today. Day 18! Can't wait for my new peeps!
