July Hatch-a-long

Yeah, my Brinsea has the auto cooling feature, but I haven't tried it. They have a lot of research to back it up. I haven't used it because it can delay your hatch, and I'm too impatient. Plus, I'm already getting great hatch rates in that incubator, so I figured why fix what's not broken?
I might just try it... I need to delay my hatch. After losing 2 chicks from prolapses, I really don't want to go through that again. So heart breaking

If they are tapping maybe they will hatch yet
. You know I read that the Chinese or commercial  chick farms not sure which put a pin hole in the air cell of each egg so the babies can get air and dont smother before hatch  I thought about that but got chicken on my last hatch thought I might poke them.

The 3 left are definitely alive, I woke up to a pip this morning. My pipper had betoken thru the shell somehow, but not the inside membrane (how that happened, I don't know). The poor thing looked like it was breathing inside a plastic bag, so I cleared the membrane from its beak and stuck it back in the bator. I think that may be how my other eggs died? The membrane isn't extra tough or anything though, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
My early bird was fluffy and cute this morning...and MAD! It was chirping its little head off and scootin' around the incubator :)
Everyones in the brooder now, I'll try to post pics again today. The mobile website is still being a pain in the you-know-what.

Good luck to everyone who getting ready to hatch and to all of those still waiting it out! I'm loving all of these super cute chicks pics!!!!

I'm having the same problem trying to post pics from the mobile version and im never sitting still long enough to go use my computer besides I've been taking most of the photos lately with my phone. It sometimes takes me 10 or more tries to get one pic to show up.

Ugh, me too. I used to have a photobucket account and just upload pics to the website and copy and paste them into my post, but that takes forever on my phone. The mobile website is ALOT easier, when it works! I just keep trying until it goes thru. I hope they fix it soon!

Here's my early bird, its not dead :p Just napping. As soon as my camera clicked to take the picture, it jumped up and beat feet over to the other chicks :gig

Ducky in front, the Duct tape poster-chick! Ha!

The chick in the front hatched first, without any problems. The one to the right pipped almost at the wrong side of the egg, but still managed to hatch just fine. Ducky bringing up the rear :)

Aw! Cute chicks! Don't you love their napping poses? My very favorite is when they fall asleep standing up, and then nod until they're leaning forward balancing and sleeping on the tip of the beak.

It's the morning of day 20 here! No pips yet, but I can hear chirping! I'm a little nervous because the Olive Egger eggs I used are small pullet eggs from my Blue Copper Marans hen. I don't usually set small pullet eggs, but I really want some olive eggs in the spring! I never hatch past July, because its too cold here to move the babies out to the coop in the fall. So I went for it... My last chance to get Olive Eggers before next year.
