Just napping. As soon as my camera clicked to take the picture, it jumped up and beat feet over to the other chicks

Ducky in front, the Duct tape poster-chick! Ha!

The chick in the front hatched first, without any problems. The one to the right pipped almost at the wrong side of the egg, but still managed to hatch just fine. Ducky bringing up the rear

Aw! Cute chicks! Don't you love their napping poses? My very favorite is when they fall asleep standing up, and then nod until they're leaning forward balancing and sleeping on the tip of the beak.

It's the morning of day 20 here! No pips yet, but I can hear chirping! I'm a little nervous because the Olive Egger eggs I used are small pullet eggs from my Blue Copper Marans hen. I don't usually set small pullet eggs, but I really want some olive eggs in the spring! I never hatch past July, because its too cold here to move the babies out to the coop in the fall. So I went for it... My last chance to get Olive Eggers before next year.
Last month my marans pullets layed some regular sized eggs like the big girls lay (then it went back to regular sized pullet eggs) So I set some in the bator, only one developed but it didn't get past day 12... maybe for a good reason, I really hope you have better luck than me!

They're all Silkies :)
I mixed my colors up for fun, so who knows what they'll end up looking like. 2 hatched from a buff rooster over a porcelain hen, they're the dark greys with the brownish faces. The other 2 were from the same buff rooster over a blue hen.

I love that sleeping pose too! It so funny when they just tip tight over :gig
I've hatched pullet eggs before. I didn't get a great hatch rate or anything (2/7), but mine were also in the refrigerator for a while too. And they were literally the very first eggs they'd ever laid. :fl for you!

This spring I managed to hatch the first 4 eggs that one of my EEs ever laid. I was surprised! Most of my luck with pullet eggs has been mixed, maybe a 50% hatch rate? About half never develop. But these eggs all developed, so I guess my rooster, Kenny Rogers, is doing his job :D

I came home to find 1 egg pipped. Go chickies go!

Well here it is day 21 for me, and nothing yet! Ahh, this is going so slow. I have 9 eggs in lockdown.

My last hatch, I had some chicks stuck to the membrane. I'm sure I had my humidity too low. So for this hatch I compensated by bringing the humidity way up and lowering the temp just a bit. It has stayed at 99 this whole time (100 degrees last hatch). I saw good things when I candled at day 18, so they should start doing something soon????!!!!
