July Hatch-A-Long

Lacry calmed me down last night at 2 in the morning and walked me through what to feed him. I gave him a vitamin B complex with niacin and riboflavin, I think that really helped. I don't know WHAT I'd do without her! As long this lil guy's on a flat surface he can walk and run with the best of them now! ...With only the occasional back flop. :p

I'll try the egg and yogurt idea, now that he's eating and drinking I'll give him a bit more than just his crumbles.

Glad she helped you... it sounds like she has hatched a lot of call ducks! What is happening with the egg #2?

They're tricky lil' buggers to hatch out! ><;; Egg #2 hasn't pipped yet but the beak's still in the air cell and there's a "safety pinhole" so it can breathe, so I'm not too worried. We'll just have to see!

Here is Daphne with some of her tiny Serama babies... a couple of them like to hide under her but they did all come out at the same time today and she even brought them off the nest... about 3 ft ; ) She is so careful with them!

Look at those chipmunk stripes...

Oh phoey I only get a black box instead of a photo of your 'wobbles'! Sometimes I hate this dial up. But can't afford better so will just have to miss out on some things. Hope it goes well with the other egg soon!

Nice looking little ones. Glad you have a broody taking care of them. Wish I did on mine. Would be much easier. I think anyway!!

I am glad I have her too, especially because I have two brooders inside of peachicks and the messiest ducklings you've ever met! Though, I think I finally got the ducklings' water under control!

A bit late to the game here, but I am on day 8 with 66 quail eggs. I have 30 in a carton that I tilt back and forth, and the rest lay on the bottom and I just roll them around to turn them (and generally roll the group counterclockwise so they spend time at all parts of the incubator). I candled a random sample and don't see and differences, but hatch rate will tell the story.
