So I had one broody that hatched her chicks one week ago! She had 14 and so far 4 have died!!!
I now have another broody that I will be giving eggs round about next week sometime!!
Those eggs will be due to hatch in July! Her name is HennyPenny and she is an EE!
I hope there are a lot of people that will be joining me and my chook with their July baby's!
So here we go. Can't wait!!!

These are her infertile eggs! Ill be putting fertile ones in soon!

I love her face. Its soo cute, one cant not look at it!

I just put an order in for eggs for august. Hoping to hatch them the same week my chick order arrives. Hopefully my source can accommodate. It's only my second hatch attempt. My first attempt was 18 shipped eggs with three roos that hatched. I also just ordered a fan for my bator. Now I just have to grow the nerve to leave the bator closed! That might just take till august.

Anyone setting eggs today?? If set today they should hatch in the beginning of July!
So anyone?????
I'm with ya!

I'm setting some tonight. I had a dozen chicks hatch in May, which was my first hatch ever....how exciting that was! I sold all but three Welsummers that I wanted to keep. I had tried to hatch some Pure bred Wheaten Ameraucana's, but all the Am eggs I set were infertile. It's a young rooster and two pullets, so I'm guessing they just weren't connecting, as it were

. So I've been watching the eggs and low and behold about 10 days ago they were looking fertile, so I started collecting them again, along with a bunch of others from my hens. So here's what I'm setting:
4 Wheaten Am roo over Wheaten or Blue Wheaten hens for pure bred Wheaten/Blue Wheaten chicks
4 Blue Wheaten Am roo over Wellsummer hen for Olive Eggers
5 Wheaten Am roo over Easter Egger hen for more Easter Eggers
5 Wheaten Am roo over Barred Rock hen for more Easter Eggers (and they should have sex linked coloring!)

The hens in with the Blue Wheaten roo have had very good fertility. It's the Wheaten Am roo whose aim hasn't been great. But the Blue Wheaten Am roo has no muff or beard (making him double recessive), so I'm using the Wheaten Am roo with my Am hens and keeping my fingers crossed. Time will tell.....

Awesome. Finally someone. I hope all goes well with your eggs. I've got a broody hen that is setting 17 eeggs. They are barnyard mixes and EE. I can't wait will they hatch

Anybody else?????
I have another broody!!!!
She is setting in the chicken coop next to one of our other broodies (HennyPenny for those who know her)

There were many chickens laying in her nest and then when she went broody they started laying next to her nest box!*So I put the chickens into the second coop and closed that coop that she was broody in! But then one of the hens dag a hole in and layed another egg next to HennyPennys nest box! Then a few minutes later I noticed that there was another hen there that just wasn't leaving the nest!Then I noticed that she was broody so I gave her some more eggs (now she has 11) to brood!
She is now very hapy and I cant wait for them to hatch!
Now I have 3 broody hens!
1= 16 eggs
2= 17 eggs
3= 11 eggs
The stupid hens laid on the floor!
