July Hatch-A-Long

ACK, I don't trust myself for one moment to try that! But I don't know what else to do, either. I have three little sachets in there, one full of rock salt, another full of rice, and the third with silicone dust. It's still hovering at 50%. This thing is just determined as all heck to be humid in there!

Time to summarise my hatch :-D Input ;-) 11 silkie eggs. Fertile: 8. Hatched: 8. Yupiii!! Time between first and last out: deffinitely less than 24 hrs.

Congrats-Great hatch!

Not much sleep for me last night as 4 of the chicks came early (between midnight and 6 am). Four more are pipped. Four not doing much at the moment. The adult chickens have been fed and let out into their runs. Sounds like a good time for a nap!

I hope to have eggs later this week, I want to join! Anyone starting this week??

I set last night, I got impatient, I have 5 silkie eggs, 4 BA and 9 of my barnyard mixes. I was going to wait until Tuesday, but the Silkies and BA's seem to have stopped laying (I got them from the hatchery breeding stock) so they are done with what they had in the works before they came here.

Last month I set 17 barnyard mixes and got 2 chicks, I'm really hoping for a better hatch this time (I had trouble with my temp arly on)

I should have my eggs on Wed (I hope) I will have 4 SBEL, 2 OE, 10+ Cream Legbar and 12+ Silkie. Now that I'm writing it down it seems like a lot

. My last silkie hatch didn't go well so I hope it goes better this time!

My broody hen is sitting on 8 dark brown eggs, today is day 21... I don't see any activity yet. Since I don't know how to candle and dark eggs are difficult to candle, I didn't bother to try. My chicken hates to be disturbed and will bite and peck, so I doubted I would see anything if I tried. We had a few issues early on with her kicking out some of the eggs. I am hoping for chicks soon. It is my first attempt at "home made" chicks. :)
It is the hens first attempt at incubating the eggs. I admit I will be disappointed if nothing comes out of the eggs.

If I don't see any activity any advice on how many extra days I should leave her on the eggs?
