Jumbo Egg Layer?

My Rhode Island Red, when she was in full swing, would produce huge eggs, that the carton would not close over. Her eggs were a darker tan with freckles. The Austrolorps that we purchased a few weeks back produced light tan eggs that were also huge. Then they stopped laying!

Just thank them all and maybe they will all lay jumbo eggs for you!

My Barred Rocks lay my biggest...usually so large the carton won't close on them...that would be my guess...just keep running in and out of the coop, you will catch someone in the act!

You don't have any of these, but 1 of 3 EE's lays my biggest egg every day. I don't know what she is mixed with, but I want more. My orps, BR's, and welsummers all lay nice eggs, but your RIR is probably the culpret.

I have to laugh because we are all telling you that our such-n-such variety lays the biggest egg. So far, I think we've hit all of the breeds that you have. So, when you find out, you'll have to tell us!

I have been getting sopome huge double yokers from my girls to!!! My 8 year old collects the eggs and just comes running when we get them. Our egg carton won't shut neither when they are the bug exciting stuff there!!!

My Production Red is the jumbo layer in my flock. There is a tell-tale on her eggs, they have rough shells with sand like grainy finish.
