Here's my 12# Jumbo Spotted drake. The light hen next to him is his mother and the almost white spotted call hen is his auntie. His mother's father is a Spotted call drake, her mother a Metzer's wild type flying mallard. His father is by a Jumbo Pekin drake and Exhibition Rouen hen. Surprising that he is so large. The color is fantastic. Will be breeding him to Rouen hens next year to reproduce the Spotted gene. Would use big Appleyard hens if I knew where to get some.

Is that a call duck its standing beside? If not that the biggest duck ive ever seen!

Those are call hens with him, but he's still a 12# giant.

Day 10, candled a couple of eggs from my big jumbo pekin daddy and exhibition rouen hens and they are fertile! So happy! Unfortunately the big egg that killed my rouen hen laying it was not fertile. Good that Big Daddy the jumbo pekin is doing his job and getting the eggs fertilized. I plan to put every single egg in the incubator this year from my 2 rouen hens. Can't wait to see what ducklings look like.

I'm late to the party, but have to ask- can a duck die from laying an egg? I'm really curious now; I hadn't heard this before!
