My 4 ducklings 2 runner 1 jumbo pekin & 1 welsh Harlequin will be arriving in June. I know the Pekin can have leg problems. How do I prevent this? We got all drakes because we have more eggs than we know what to do with now and the chicks aren't laying yet. I want them happy and healthy. I know the pekin will get real big real fast. Will he be ok living with the smaller ducks? Can I feed them all the same food? What kind? I only have Agway by me.
Thanks

I have a pekins and the male has Splay leg but he gets around and doesn't seem to mind. But he walks like he has a stick up his butt and when he runs LOL indescribeable!

I have raised Pekins with Runners and Welsh Harlequin Cross ducklings. There was a noticeable difference in size after a while - but they did ok in the brooder together.

Pekins can have issues due to being such fast growing birds- but you can supplement the feed you have with a vitamin mix or niacin if you notice any leg weakness or bowing of the legs should it develop. I dont know what products your Agway may stock- but with a few weeks wait- yo may be able to get them to order in something for you that is better than what they have in their stocked range.

I will Pm you a link to some of the photos.
