I’m looking for jumbo quail hatching eggs in the Bryan, Tx area.
If anyone has any for sale I would appreciate it.

I bought jumbo cortunix via e-bay. It was my first time hatching them, the hatch rate was terrible, 5 out of 29 eggs. The shipping was surely the main reason but my incubator might not be calibrated properly, and it is designed for chicken eggs. I was lucky that I got one mail out to the hatching and now have a source of fertile hatching eggs. Just hatched my first. Having the ability to have a rooster that doesn’t crow, aka source of my own fertile eggs has drawn me to quail and then I became interested in jumbo quail for the extra meat. Seems that the market for jumbo quail is barely existent. There are even super jumbo’s, even harder to find, topping out at 1 lb. I will be looking for super jumbo eggs. With these new chicks I am starting them on 30%, hoping they get bigger than their parents. I got next to zero info with my original eggs, notices the chicks had a black dot on their head (they are pure white), turns out they are sex linked, 2 dots mean male. Feels like there’s a lot to know and no easy way to get the info… appears there are perhaps hundreds of breeds?

I had just under a 50% hatch rate on the eggs I ordered.
I acquired some breeders, I have 10 hens and 2 roosters, I have been getting 8-9 eggs/day.
I hatched out several batches of these plus friends have hatched out several batches, the hatch rate has been about 85%.
I have another breeder pen set up with the eggs that I hatched out hatched out that were ordered, I got my first egg from them yesterday, I will have two breeder pens shortly.

What incubator did you use for the 85% hatch rate? Does it have an automated turner specific to quail eggs?

I have two NR360 incubators, one maticoopx 30, that I hatched in, I like both models.
I just bought an onko incubator that I set quail eggs in, the operator manual is very confusing, I will not buy another, I will see if it hatches any eggs out.
