Our little exercise pen for the chicks came today, so instead of chasing around a bunch of cheeping escapees we were able to have an organized, fun time outside!
First everyone had to get a good eyeful of the great outdoors.

Does a wattle at three weeks = cockerel? I've never dealt with straight run chicks before.

Then the hens realized I was outside and possibly carrying food and came to investigate. This is right before a naive little one got a peck to the head.

Then everyone discovered how awesome rolling around in dirt can be...

Cutey butt:

The Silkies are still small enough that they could probably pop right through the bars of that pen, so hopefully they'll be able to join the Sussex outside in another week or two. I also worry about one of the hens pecking the three vaulted babies. >_<
Yesterday the ladies got to nom some leftover spaghetti, but they had to jump for it.

"DO WANT."

Just wanted to share, and thanks for looking!
