Hello everyone,
Since I posted in the diseases forum it seemed time to post an introduction.
We have an 8 acre "farm" near Lexington KY and my roommate has become chicken obsessed this year. We have gone from "get a few chickens... less than 12" to having 31 birds with 29 hens and 2 roosters.
Let me see if I can list them! (this will be the test of if I have become a real chicken farmer
2 Icelandic Hens
1 Icelandic Rooster
1 Golden Comet/Leghorn Roster
5 Americanas (red girls with green legs)
1 "Americana" (grey girl very fluffy with green legs) (lays green eggs)
1 Speckled Sussex
5 Leghorn/Buff Orpington
3 Buff Orpingtons
2 Wellsummers
5 RIR (supposedly but some look more like the americana's we got)
1 feather legged buff orpington like girl (very sweet)
4 Cuckoo Marans (grey and white spotted)
I think I have done it
WHOO HOO!
After having done horses for 25 years I now know the feeling that people get when they are new to horses and everything is strange. I feel like I am asking questions that have been asked 100 times but I just don't quite understand the answers given. I neglected stuff that should have been handled out of ignorance and now am having to play catch up!
Darn it all!!
