JUNCTION CITY - When 8-year-old Sara Davis ventured out to her grandmother's chicken one recent day, she found an eggscellent surprise - one hen had been eggstra busy laying six eggstra large eggs.

"I thought the first one would've killed her, but she laid five more," said Donna Clark, Sara's grandmother.

The largest of the eggs checks in at 4 inches long and 5.5 ounces in weight. They were produced by an eggceptional Domicker hen that heretofore had not done anything eggstraordinary enough to earn a name.

Eggcited, but not eggsactly sure what she had, Clark called in an eggspert, Boyle County ag agent Jerry Little, to come look at the eggs at her farm on White Oak Road across from Peckerwood Grocery Store.

"He said he had never seen anything like these," she said.

Big as they are, Clark's eggs aren't eggsactly world class. According to Guinness World Records, the largest hen egg ever laid weighed nearly 12 ounces and was 12.25 inches long. The five-yolk egg was laid by a Black Minorca hen in England in 1896.
