Well I have three out. The first one that pipped died in its shell

. It never pipped through the membrane. So that leaves 6 more that I locked down that have not pipped. I am going to give it a couple more days before I pull the plug. I just hope I got a roo and a hen so I can hatch more. Three of 28 is a pretty bad hatch ratio

. A word of caution about using styrofoam egg cartons for hatching, one of my chicks laid down to rest with membrane and goo on it and got shrinkwrapped to the carton. I carefully unstuck it using water but I think it would have died if I hadn't gotten to it soon. Its neck was in a strange position and now it looks a little crooked but I think it is improving. Wish her luck shes pretty weak

Here is the chick who hatched on its own

KogersClutch - the eggs came from ebay through the mail, there were 10 originally, 2 clear and 1 quit early on, the others all seemed to be developing well. The 4 healthy chicks were from the smallest eggs and hatched first. I would guess that at least 3 different hens produced the eggs in this batch going by how they looked, different sizes and slightly different shades. They are all bantam wyandottes from the same seller. I think my temps might have been a bit on the high side, I kept the setting the same as for my last hatch but the weather has been a lot warmer for this hatch. I also thought the air sacs were bigger in these eggs so maybe my hunidity was a bit lower. I just followed instructions for the bator, I don't have a hydrometer. The chick with the bent neck is looking much better today and eating and drinking ok but sleeping much more than the others. The one who can't stand is still not doing much but I think its trying. I've had it out a few times and tried to help it stand but it keeps bending it's legs up. It's toes look normal and move ok, not curled. This chick is quite a lot bigger than the others. It still looks healthy and doesn't seem distressed. I've applied a band aid and made sure its drinking and eating. Will just keep checking for the next few days and see how things go. I'd be really sad if I have to cull it.

HI, I have two LG incubators going, one on lockdown with 40 Americauna eggs and one on day 8 with 20 RIRs, 12 Silver laced Wyandotts, and 11 Black Austrolorps. This is my first attempt, so I am praying something survives. I will eagerly watch everyone's progress. I'll get pics asap.

Sher 4 Angus calves, 3 goats, and bunches of eggs in the incubator watched by my Bearded Collie, Arwen

7 babies now...out of 19 in lockdown. Day 22 today and some look like they zipped and then stopped. One pip and 2 or three nothing. Beautiful BBS Orphingtons! I'm happy...except the LG w/fan I've been using as a hatcher I'm not thrilled with. Can't keep the humidity up even with a soup mug with sponges. There's got to be a better way...

Sorry it's a crap pic, but look what I got!!!!!
