I HAVE MY FIRST PIP!!! This is my first time incubating, and it's a homemade incubator, I've got 3 thermometers in there and none of them agree, LOL, so I really wasn't sure if I'd have any make it to hatching, but things are looking good. I was lying in bed early this morning and kept thinking I heard peeping but there is a nest of baby robins (or something) right outside my window so I thought that was what I was hearing, LOL. I think today is day 20 for the pipped egg. I have another that's due June 2 or 3 (I had a sneaky hen that laid a couple of eggs in a nest that a broody hen was sitting on ping pong balls so I stuck them in the incubator when my bantam ameraucana eggs arrived) and the ameraucanas are due June 4 so putting them in lockdown tomorrow morning. Half of my ameraucana eggs are in the incubator and half are being taken care of by my broody hen. The 2 "early" eggs are bantam cochins. Mom is a white frizzle, dad is either a blue or partridge.
I guess I'll need to take the incubator into a steamy bathroom to set up for lockdown for the ameraucanas, so I don't shrinkwrap the 2 cochins...
