and this one is trying to make its way out

one of them is probably gonna die cuz it was born with a red bag like thing hanging from stomach..thinking it might be intestines.

Could be. Or it might absorb that part inside where it belongs. You have to remember that just yesterday this same little chick was still closing it's abdomen around his yolk sac. It's an ongoing process, and it may survive yet. Chicks are sturdy.

I guess my free range guinea hens heard about this Hatch-A-Long! They brought me a batch of babies to brood last night just before dark. (Not the best mothers in the world, makes me wonder how many they lost out in the pasture getting them to the house!).
Anyway, very excited because not only did I get some more paint guineas, but for the very first time I have a blue-type guinea!

What color is it??? Is this a Lavender or Powder Blue???? Sorry the light is so red.
Guesses anyone!

Thanks and congratulations to all the pipps, zipps, and hatches that you are all getting!

One of my broody hens disappeared this morning! During this morning's chores I discovered that one of the broody hens was gone and only 3 of the 13 eggs were still in the nest, cold! Also, one of my juvenile ducks is gone also. No blood! No feathers! Just gone! I thought maybe a fox got them, but there are no signs of a struggle. I also keep a dog around the property. He is very good with the animals, and typically keeps all the predators away. I think this is the first issue since he was been patrolling the property at night.

The other broody is still here. She was in a separate nest sitting on three of her own eggs that I gave her the other day, since the missing hen was more dominant and kept hoarding all the eggs. I put the three remaining eggs under the remaining broody.

I have never had a chicken go missing right out of the pen before this. Very disturbing.

I have 42 eggs in the incubator now, they should start hatching next week Monday. They will all be mixed chicks. I have a Welsummer Roo and a Welsummer/BUff Orp mixed Roo and for hens I have a Cream Legbar, 2 RIR, a BR, 1 Black Sex Link and 3 Black Orp's. Last month I hatched 18 turkey poults out of 21 eggs so I am hoping for good results with these as well.

That is so odd! I wonder what it could be. Do you have any two-legged chicken predators where you are? Broody hens are easier for people to walk off with because they don't run away. Just tossing out ideas.
So sorry you lost them, though! That is terrible.

I don't know if the HAL is for broody people, 'bator people or both. But I have two broodies (so far) that are on day 14 and 5. The first broody is on 10 eggs (7 Ameracauna and 3 Wyandotte, all with an Ameracauna roo) and the second is on 6 eggs (same mix). First hatching ever. These hens are my first and I brooded them in my basement last year and I thought the hens could do the work this time :)

Here's the first hen screeching at me-notice her beak is open.

Ok, so I was wrong. The hen pictured is a Welsummer so she is on 4 Welsummer, 3 Ameracauna and 3 Wyandotte eggs all with a Welsummer roo. Can't wait to see what we get!! If anything... (This is day 19 so here's hoping!!)

Another baby chick hatched out up to three now...the one with intestines out is still alive..debating if I should try to push them back in or just leave it...plus another egg has pipped out
