June 2015 Hatch A Long HAL

This is my first hatch, I've got 21 eggs due June 6th. 10 of them are from a RIR rooster with RIR, BR, and White Leghorn hens. The other 11 are from a friend. They came from a Brown Leghorn rooster with RIR, Brown Leghorn, and Cuckoo Maran hens. I'm so excited!

Hello I'm new to hatching also!! This is my first hatch as I have an EE that went broody and decided to try..

Due June 5th

I put 10 eggs under her but lost one when she got excited and dropped the water bowl on it. So hoping the others hatch with no problems.
They are mixed eggs from my 4 girls

2 EE's
2 RSL
My rooster I'm not sure what breed he is..

Welcome! Has she had luck staying on her eggs? I have not had the priveledge to hatch with a broody yet! But, i have a bunch of silies in training!

Yes she is setting great so far even with me moving her to a separate place and me being worried she hadn't pooped and I let her out and then had to chase her to put her back in she is still setting. Thank God :)

Have you been able to sneak a candle of her eggs?

Congrats to all the first time hatchers! Warning, it's addictive!

I've had to restart my broody, because someone kicked her off her nest and the eggs got cold for over 24 hours during very early development, and there are no signs of life. Tonight she gets new eggs and her own crate.

My bantams eggs are doing really well in the incubator, the porcelain d'uccles especially which I am really excited about. The cemani eggs due the fourth are all alive and kicking too, and I need to check on the second batch. Got a third batch of them that should be going in soon, too, and I ordered some sebastopol eggs so depending when they go in they may be due in June, or early July.

I did candle some of them and they showed veins and black blob some of the brown eggs are hard to tell but I could see veins as well I don't want to disturb her anymore so I'm just letting it up to her and hope they all hatch..

That's a good thing! Looks like a blob with spider veins. so, you know she's doing a good job! Can't wait to hear how she does.

my broody eggs hatch yesterday/last night! she ended up with 4!

i candled the eggs in the bator last night.. the majority of them look good! i think there was only 2 of my own eggs that have no development.
the shipped eggs are developing, but at least half of them are saddle air cells. and some are too dark or thick to see what going on yet. Plus... i dropped one when I was putting it back. its still in tact, but its cracked.. so i stopped candling. I felt horrible.

Congrats on the hatch! You can patch the egg with candle wax or tape and it might make it. I managed to crack an egg all the way around about three day before hatch, patched it with tape, and it hatched fine :)
