Final score, out of 24 eggs, four scrappy chicks. McMurray is going to hear from me.

you got shipped eggs from McMurray? thats a chance you take with shipped eggs unfortunately. last year out of 24, we ended up with 6... not from a hatchery tho..

Here we go! lockdown is suppose to be tonight, but since our evenings are rather busy, i added the water to raise the humidity this morning when i turned the eggs! i didnt think it would hurt them to be a little early. I candled last night and the 6 with saddle air cells were pretty cramped, so I wanted to give them a little extra time to get into position too.

set 38 tossed 10- 8 infertile or not started, 2 bloodring! 28 went into lockdown looking good!

i love this part, it seems like it takes forever to get here, but then it seems to go so fast!

Somewhat of a happy ending..

Called McMurray this morning and explained what happened with the eggs. They were very cool about it and gave me 50% credit, which I immediately used to buy Jersey Giant chicks..

Faith restored.

Sorry you had to do that Elginchickens I'm sure that's hard to do, necessary sometimes but still hard.  I hope the rest of them hatch okay for you 

Yeah I hate having to do that ...especially when my wife just doesn't understand that it's not surviving and it's only miserable and suffering...but I gotta be the one that does what has to be done..but on the bright side I got six baby's and two that are pipped and trying to get out. .

That's awesome! My pet chicken offered me $10 on a 60$ order with old Detatached air cells and 0% hatch rate.
