JUNE HATCH-A-LONG come join in

OK - day 21 - 3 orp eggs in bator. 2 have done nothing yet, the 3rd pipped twice in the wrong place sometime yesterday evening, not good!! So we'll hold out hope for the other two!
On the plus side of the 15 BO eggs I put in on the 26th I have had to pull only one for being clear and one yesterday for bloodring so we are still at 13 on those and of the 8 BSF eggs I put in on the 27th Ive only had to get rid of 2, a clear and a quitter. So 6 to go!!

Then....I put 6 shipped australorps in yesterday. So we'll see!!

My broody hen finally got off her nest (while I was watching) and I was able to tidy it up a little and just see how many eggs she was sitting on. In the end, its only three. Glad I added the other two eggs on the first day!

Meanwhile I candled my five eggs in the 'bator and ALL are doing great, i'm so excited!! I guess the new spot in the 'bator is just fine after all

I still haven't decided on if i'll let my first time broody hatch out my 'bator eggs. She is the top hen, and broody hatched herself, who knows if that makes a difference, lol.

Either way, one week till lockdown for my 'bator eggs!!!

Oh!! and my first 'bator baby is doing fine with its little meatie brothers and turkeys, lol.

Here's a few pics of my new Orps. I have 4 out of 8 eggs. Not bad for shipped eggs.

Too funny! I'm in the same boat. I've attempted to candle the eggs twice but have given up!
My story is pretty funny. I have 5 laying hens and my neighbor went and bought a rooster. Needless to say, I have very fertile eggs

I decided to try and hatch some eggs. I read up on hatching eggs right on this website and bought myself an incubator. We put our first 5 in the incubator May 19th and have a total of 18 in there now. Today actually, when we were driving back from camping (we had to bring our incubator with us) two of the eggs cracked. I decided to open one and see if it was even a chick and sure enough I lost a little one. It was very sad.

I was devastated but now know if it cracks, let it continue in the incubator and maybe it will survive. The other cracked egg is in the incubator. Crossing my fingers........can't wait until Tuesday............"birthday" for 4 of the eggs!!

I have pheasants, chukar and one little quail egg on lockdown today, they are on day 21 now due to hatch on the 8th and 9th. Also have 3 flying mallard duck eggs that are on day 21 as well, due on saturday the 12th. I know its a day or so early but i still keep checkin them to see if theres any excitement starting.
pop.gif

I started off with 10 quail eggs, 8 were infertile and one was a quitter at day 12. so im left with one giant butler bobwhite guy, maybe i can name him lucky if he pops out
wink.png
.
Also started with 12 pheasant eggs on the 15th of last month, of those i have 8, 2 were infertile and two bloodrings. both chukars i got had cracks but thats to be expected from time to time
smile.png
. I also got 4 mallards and one was infertile, the other three are great.

on the 16th i picked up the quails, 6 more chukar and 6 pheasants, everybody but the 9 quail are still kickin and going strong.

So im hoping for the best with these little guys, i have a total left of 14 Pheasants, 1 quail, three ducks and six chukar. Lets see what we get!

We candled the 35 eggs and only 4 didn't show distinct veins. One I'm pretty sure is a blood ring (we'll check again Tuesday), one is the Elmer'd shell -- won't be surprised if it stays clear, one is a green EE cross -- but all the other green & blue ones had veins, the last one may have developed veins, but the shell is so porous that it's hard to see any lines through the dark and light mottling. The double-yolker does have veins, but it's hard to tell if there are two areas due to the shell color.

I have my 5 "Olive eggers" in lock down today. They are Black Copper Marans roo, cross with my americana. We will see! I had better luck candling about a week ago. I could see veins and I thought I saw something moving in all of them. But today they all seem too dark! Well, time will tell! I will let you know Wednesday!

Save The Favs. you totally helped me out so much..on my last batch I got 19 little ones from the incubator. Thanks so much.

Happy to hear that your hatches are doing well. You must be doing everything right; the credit goes to you, your perserverence & good judgment. Looking forward to hearing of your hatches to come this month. Happy hatching!
