June Hatch A Long

Pics
Duckling pile!! I candled the last egg, definitely a dud. So these three sweet babies are home now. Two girls and a boy, not bad!! The next two weeks for the incubator babies are going to drag.
Eeeeeeee!!!!! Love themmmm!

So I just did a recandle on my Australian Spotted Duck eggs. Several had some darkening going on already. This had me wondering if it was warm enough somewhere along the way for them to start developing. Even though the air cells are dancing around the egg.

I decided after 8 1/2 hours sitting next to the incubator I would put them in the incubator tonight. The are all sitting in cut up egg cartons so they are standing up. No idea how long they will be sitting like that. But my guess is anywhere between 2-4 days. Hoping for a good hatch on these guys.
Good call, I would put them in too. Here’s hoping those cells firm up in 2-3 days. Do you have a upright turner or on their sides?

:barnie
Florentine jumped nests. The eggs were cool when I got to them. I think she may have been off for 5 or so hours.

Is there any hope? I candled a few with my phone as I transferred them and there was development. We’re on day 9.

Yes! I just read a fascinating article on the Metzer blog about a customer not picking up balut eggs and they put them back in the incubator a day later and had a great hatch.

The general consensus is that cooling temperatures are a million times better than hot.

Well my eggs went into the incubator on the 4th of May but will be done cooking on the 7th of June so I guess I can be part of this one too. For some reason my incubator got turned off today and went down to 78 degrees hoping my eggs still hatch but a little worried.

Welcome @LilyD! This far along those eggs are generating some good heat themselves, I’m so glad they’re srill kicking around! What did you set? We both have a little chicken math problem.

Also @two j farm how are the puppies?!?

Babies are due on Tuesday-Wednesday. I went to the feed store to get chick food for them. I have seven possible hatchlings due Wednesday-ish. Plenty to keep me busy for a while!

... I just came home with Venus and Virtue. (Next chick is Voodoo to round out my V's)

Don't go to the chick store. DON'T DO IT. I'm sending someone else from now on.

This time around I have a on the side incubator. It is a nurture right 360 that I am using. The other one is what I like to call the China bator and it took a lot to make sure it was on temp and not cooking my eggs.

I’d probably go at least 3 days if those cells are sloshing around. I’m curious to follow results.... I put a couple of my bad air cells on their side after 2 days in a carton this time. Last hatch I got 50% hatch rate after BABYING the heck out of shipped eggs. And like 85-90% made it to lockdown. :-/

One thing I think has a lot of weight to it is you should incubate how you will hatch and I didnt hatch any eggs upright. I planned on incubating these on their side in the Brinsea I have, but didn’t realize I couldnt fit all my eggs if I did that. I am wondering if I take out my couple of clears, if I could get them all on their side now at day 5.... I think I may try tonight.

Regardless, I’m not so sure it’s such a crazy exact science, anyway, and what will happen will happen.

Im on lockdown today. Hatch on Wednesday. I will need some luck. Only three eggs and snowflake my Araucana is waiting to be a mom. Tiny my dutch is broody today so I put 18 small eggs in my home made incubator so I’m in again in the June hatch along. It’s not over for me:drool:fl:ya

I am having an issue recalling a set of eggs this bad that I have set. I have set a few really bad ones in my year of incubating and had them hatch. So I am hoping that this will firm up and attach over the next few days.
