June Hatch A Long

Funny story! Our duck eggs were sold to us as pure WH from a bill sexable line. So when we had both gold (pink bill) and darker tipped (slate bill) ducklings, I thought one was gold, female, and one silver, male, phase. When they feathered out, “gold” were white and darker were typical WH colors, plus one bizarre marked guy, all of same layer body type. Both sexes in all colors. So, the breeder was horrified and offered to refund my money (he’s a coworker and ducks were for egg laying not breeding so I refused). Apparently, his pure WH got some white breed something in their background! They’ve been absolutely amazing layers though, until this week... Either there is an incredibly well hidden nest in the run somewhere, or having two broody ducks made all four (plus mallard, who knows with her!) ducks stop laying...
They're so neat looking! And they are very sneaky sometimes with their nests!

I'm so sorry! You may be able to reach out and see if anyone else has chicks hatching a couple days before yours so you could get a couple and it won't be alone.
The prob is that where he lives is quarantine zone too! Getting birds in so cal not as easy as one would like right now- nor is keeping birds - so many are having the state kill their flocks.

@LuckyCluckyCA , I'm sorry! I know it can be frustrating trying to troubleshoot! If you decide to try hatching again it can be helpful to play around with your incubator for a couple of days before setting eggs because it can vary depending on your incubator as well as the environment you have it in.
So your humidity dropped below 30% when it was empty and so far even trying to adjust the existing reservoir is still bringing it over 80% correct? The reason I keep mentioning a sponge is because even if a chick flops around on it you wouldn't run into the possible issue of them accidentally dumping a cup of water.

IMG_0102.JPG IMG_0058.JPG IMG_0095.JPG I I Guess I am cheating here, I haven't been hatching along and reading the thread but I had 4 hatches this month, 2 by incubator and 2 broodies. The first picture is hatching as we speak and the other 2 pictures are a week or 2 old now. The first one was June 4th but they were sold before I took a picture. The first picture is my Dorking project Silver Grey Dorking x (Silver Grey Dorking x Red Ranger), going to make Light Dorkings as well as improve the Silver Grey Dorking. They are not very hardy on their own with well less than 50% surviving to adulthood. The Black one in that picture is a stray Ayam Cemani I threw in to fill out the egg turner. The 2nd picture is my Ayam Cemani broody, 5 chicks. The 3rd picture is my Old English Game Bantam 2nd hatch of the year, 3 hens sat on 15 eggs then the first hen hatched out 3 chicks and the other 2 abandoned their eggs to tend to the 3 hatched. This happened the first time they went broody this spring.
