June Hatch A Long

Pics
My final count was 6 (out of 10 eggs set). One was infertile with no development and removed at day 16; the remaining 9 were left with mum and 6 hatched yesterday. She was still sitting eeal tight so i had great hopes for the remaining ones but this morning she had moved off the nest - there was one unpipped, one pipped (and cold) and very sadly one almost fully zipped and beak half out but now cold and deceased. Very sad to see - it was so close.

The six babies are either araucana or araucana cross (easter eggers). It looks like maybe 3 black, 2 blue and maybe 1 cuckoo / barred (with head spot).

So sorry about the one that didn’t make it and that you had to handle that.

So sweet! Good job momma! I'm sorry some of them didn't make it when they were so close but you certainly have some adorable balls of fluff that look super healthy!

I never candle my eggs this often but I think getting to see all these peeps is making me impatient. :lau
Crested Cream Legbars Day 9! I bet these eggs will hatch first come hatch day. They are developing so fast compared to the other breeds!

They look goooooood.

I’ve got some d’uccles under my broody! 2 should hatch in June and I put a few under tonight. :) This will be my 2nd hatch this year. I hatched 7 d’uccles back in March for the Easter hatch a long.

I remember! Cannot wait to see the babies!!! How are the Easter ones doing?

Sad about the ones that didn’t make it, but congrats on your hen’s successes!

I have a question for all you wonderful duck people! What breed is the duck on the left? I think the other is a Khaki Campbell but not sure about the black and white one.

That may very well be a Muscovy baby looks like a barred patterning how old. I have had juvenile Scovy's that looked like that. Scovy and any other breed of duck make what's called a Moullard which is good to eat but are like mule and won't be able to breed but they are good to eat and nice ducks too.

Tossed my clears tonight. 6 clear, 1 super early quitter. So I have 5 left. I’m ok with those numbers considering they were shipped.

Question * what do you do when air cells are significantly different in size? Do I accommodate the large air cell and bump up the humidity or keep it lower for the regular air cells? Or meet somewhere in the middle?

I pick my favorite eggs, or the healthiest looking, and adjust based on those.

If they were all favorites, I would pick the ones that need adjustment most. If your big ones are bigger than they should be and your smaller are normal, adjust a little for the big ones.

If your big ones are normal and your smaller and teeeeeeny, adjust for those.

YALL. IS THIS MY BABY DUCK WITH AN ITTY. ITTY BABY BILL PEEKING AT ME?!?. IM. SO. DEAD.

(I’m on day 12. But, maybe don’t tell me if it’s not. I’m so excited)
