Yeah to the pip!One so far when I looked this morning. Im not going to open it again so the humidity stays up. I might try and record it later lol
Cool! Where did you get the Whitings True Blues from?I nearly went into withdrawals while the site was down this morning. lol! Those were my prime BackyardChicken forum hours.
I put my Mottled Orpingtons, Crested Cream Legbars, and Whiting's True Blues on early lockdown today because after final candling the Legbars air cells are already changing shape like they're going to hatch so I bet I'll see some peeps on day 19-20!
My final count on lockdown is 10 Mottled Orps, 4 CCLs, and 3 WTBs!
Started with 33, 11 infertile, 5 quitters. I was told to expect 50% fertility with the Orps though so I'm still happy!
Fingers crossed that all 17 peeps hatch successfully!

I’m also working with shipped eggs and broody hens! May I ask why you are taking six back from the hen?I've only got 4 in there. This is my first time so I used eggs from my ducks to try it. All 4 are still moving around inside. After these hatch I have 12 shipped eggs under my hen. I'm probably going to take 6 back To the incubator.

Wow, you really have some cool and unusual breeds! I’ve thought that Arkansas Blues sounds interesting too! I think that they are related to the WTB?I got them from one of my friend's that is a local breeder of many cool breeds! I also got my Crested Cream Legbars with Frosted gene from her (fingers crossed for a white pullet!) And she gave me an Exchequer Leghorn pullet!
We also share a love for English Orpingtons and I've hatched many from her flocks. I have 2 friends that are interested in these mottled chicks and setting up breeding pens for them.
I just keep a smaller mixed flock here on my property with no roosters so I do a lot of trading of chicks for hatching eggs. I hatch a lot of peeps and raise just a few from each hatch so I know I'm getting a hen and then I rehome the others. I do all of this usually just wanting one pullet of a particular breed, lol. I really enjoy it though!
Awww, c’mon egg 3!!!View attachment 1816203
Two cclb and looks like #3 won’t be hatching but I’ll wait the rest of the day
I haven't totally decided if I am or not yet. She's an unproven broody. :-/ and while I am keeping some of the babies (adding new genetics to the flock) some I am going to be selling. My naive newbie thought was that it would be easier to finish incubating the few that would be sold rather than trying to take them from Mama.I’m also working with shipped eggs and broody hens! May I ask why you are taking six back from the hen?
