June Hatch A Long

I could hear peeps coming from those CCL eggs early this morning! I think it's safe to say there are internal pips and they're going to be early babies yet again!

Oh yeah CluckNDoodle! You get to have your own hatch after helping so much with everyone else’s! Early again? Is your incubator a little warm?

Wow! Have I missed a lot... we’ve been bringing in our Hay and I haven’t been getting notifications for this thread just catching up now.

No, the Crested Cream Legbars consistently seem to hatch a bit early.

My IncuView is stressing me out with it's hot and cold corners though... I didn't expect this from a $200 Incubator...after these peacocks and turkeys hatch I may have to experiment with it to see if I can do anything to regulate the temp a bit more.
My current hatch is in my Nurture Right though and all has been going well! So excited! I'll be keeping most of these babies and giving them to my broodies.

I actually prefer to let my broodies incubate and hatch their own but when I do start them in the incubator I normally put them under my broodies around day 18 for hatching at the very least because the hens more readily accept the eggs over transplanting chicks but I have 3 broodies in the same coop together plus a 4th that comes in the sleep with her peeps in the neighboring box and has caused a lot more shifting around of their fake eggs so I'm going to attempt hatching all of the chicks inside, decide which ones to put with my proven broody, and give a few to the other two unproven broodies, probably tomorrow night once they're all done hatching. I do have a 4'x10' pen that I can close off if necessary that I've used for broodies in the past but it seems to have gone just as smoothly when I leave them with my flock. This will be a real test though having so many at once! There are a lot more "what ifs" involved. lol

Me too, I'm very nervous excited, lol. One of the newbies has good standing in the pecking order. My proven is lower on the pecking order but I've seen her in action so I'm not worried, but the other newbie may actually be at the very bottom and my broody that is raising her peeps already has been pecking her comb when she thinks her chicks are getting looked at sideways, lol. It hasn't broken her, she's very commited to her granite fake eggs but I'll have to get up early and keep a close eye on the activity to make sure I don't need to separate her maybe for a few days. Fingers crossed it goes smoothly!

Oh yeah!!!! So exciting! We have one CCL hen, the one we bred to make OE eggs. I’d really love to get some of the Opal Legbar hatching eggs, but with my recent experience with shipped eggs, my enthusiasm for that is a little dampened... GL with your hatch!!!!

The Opal Legbars are beautiful! So far I have found hatching eggs locally for the Cream Legbars, Frosted Legbars, and Silver Legbars but no Opals yet. These will be the first 4 eggs I'm hatching for myself though and I plan on keeping 1 pullet and whatever chicks hatch frosted too.
