June Hatch A Long

What a happy morning of updates!

Congrats @dougieee @juliasflock and @BielefelderHen!!!

One sticky chick looks a little worse for wear but acting great so I’ll bathe it later. Another one can’t really get its legs underneath it. It gets around but not gracefully I’m wondering if I need to set up a splay leg contraption. It may be my one that was curled up for a bit. I’m going to give it some more time with nutri drench water.

Forgot a photo!

I’ve got lots of silver Appleyard, some welsh harlequins, a Cayuga, a chocolate runner, a fawn and white runner, khaki Campbell and who knows what else!

Oh! And my last duckling is almost ready! Look how many fewer veins there are today. They’ve receded a lot since 6am. Little baby is still chattering and chewing. I’m going to check veins every 30 minutes he has been in here a long time!

So I am getting worried about my Trader Joe's eggs... Today is day 7 I have been candling every couple of days. On day 3 one showed veins and now that one seems to be developing, I have not seen anything in the remaining 6 eggs. How long before I give up? These are white eggs so easy enough to candle. If no others start to develop I am going to abort the whole hatch, I do not want to end up with just one chick .

I think by 7/8 most people discard clears, especially in white eggs. I don’t know if anything changes with the different conditions of refrigerated eggs....

So in the end i got six out of nine eggs. The 6th nearly drowned so i assisted it, this made me take a look at the others so i made a small whole in the shell to check....... ALL three had internally pipped and drowned, waaay too much liquid.
Im annoyed because i know i could have saved them but to be honest i intervened way quicker than i normally would anyway.
Still i will take 50% based on the state of the air cells after shipping.
Will post a pic as soon as theyve fluffed out a little

I’m right there with you I lost one egg I could have saved. It’s hard to balance the info of “never assist” that’s so pervasive out there with when to jump in :-/
