June Hatch-A-Long

One is out, the other hasn't pipped yet, but I can hear it.

How cute! How big are the eggs & hatchlings??

typical eggs are about 6 inches long and the chicks hatch about the size of a pigeon, the one that hatched was in a smaller egg so it's a bit smaller.

Do the eggs fit in a LG or HovaBator or did you use something else? Did you turn by hand 3x a day?

I used a home made cooler/bator, hand turned up to 10 times a day but no less than 5.
I know some people have hatched them in hovabators.

should be fine if the hen is with it keeping it warm.

Today is the end of day 22. All my Barred rocks are out 6 out of 8. Still nothing from the 11 black copper marans. 1 did pip yesterday and died overnight. How long does one wait. Day 24? Do dark eggs die more frequently. Some were definitely alive at lock down because I saw veins and movement. Is it me or the eggs! Is it worth trying again. It can be done right?

both of my eggs have hatched, couldn't ask for better results.

Sport- I dont have very great hatch rates....but still I try.
