Last time I candled on day 5 I saw development in only a few eggs. By day 7 it was easy to see in all of them (all that eventually hatched). Don't give up hope - a few days can make a big difference it what is visible!

I was wondering how that worked when hatching in the cartons. thanks for the visual!Close! Mine sort of wear the egg cap as a hat for a while and use their widdo wings to pull themselves up before hopping out.

Your buff orp egg is very roundish - I think the air cell would be on the bottom in that pic but I can't see well enough. (I'm on my phone too). My buff orp eggs are like golf balls - very hard to know which end to place "up" without seeing the air cell.
