June Hatch a Long

Last time I candled on day 5 I saw development in only a few eggs. By day 7 it was easy to see in all of them (all that eventually hatched). Don't give up hope - a few days can make a big difference it what is visible!

Going by https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/candling-pics-progression-through-incubation-of-chicken-eggs thread the one looks like day 10, however I'm on day 6. the other eggs look like 28-52 hours photo.

My temp is a stable 99, sometimes it goes to 100 but not higher, I have kept my humidity at about 50-55

Sort of depends what you're using to candle too. With a flashlight I could barely make out some veins on day 7 and others I wasn't sure if I saw veins or if my eyes were tricking me. I switched to a higher lumens flashlight (like 100+ lumens) and could see very clearly that there was good development. Even from eggs the same general color there can be easy ones and difficult ones to see into.

Close! Mine sort of wear the egg cap as a hat for a while and use their widdo wings to pull themselves up before hopping out.

I was wondering how that worked when hatching in the cartons. thanks for the visual!

All this talk of candling has gotten my wheels turning, as candling drives me bonkers. Has anyone used that brinsea ovascope? It's about $60, SO I don't want to spend the mula until someone tells me it actually does a super duper job. Any thoughts?

Thanks for the info. I did clean and sterilize the incubator after the last hatch. Any advise is welcome!

Poor quality candling, I'm sorry lol Just wondering if anyone sees a difference in my dented Golden Comet egg.

Also, here's one of my buff eggs. Anyone see an air cell? Feel free to check it on photoshop, as I'm on my cell phone and can't.

Your buff orp egg is very roundish - I think the air cell would be on the bottom in that pic but I can't see well enough. (I'm on my phone too). My buff orp eggs are like golf balls - very hard to know which end to place "up" without seeing the air cell.

I should be able to tell tomorrow or Friday, just couldn't help myself! Question- most of the eggs I see have the air cell growing in the large end of the egg, not the pointy end. Does it matter that the air cell of the golden comet egg I posted is growing in the pointy end of the egg?
