June Hatch-A-Long

I had 2 Indian Runners hatch on Thuraday (a day early) and 4 hatch on Friday (their due date)! Yay! I have so many cute little fuzz butts

Now I'm just waiting on my 9 Pekin eggs to hatch! They're due June 23rd

I've decided to try my hand at quail...now I just need to find some hatching eggs

What do you do with quail? I have noticed that a lot of people here hatch them, I just don't know what you do with them after that. They are adorable babies.

5 silkie/bantams hatched. All healthy chicks. Lost 2 bantys. Pipped but died in the shells. Waiting patiently for the EEs to hatch.

They are adorable! Ducklings are the best! Are they any harder to hatch than chicken eggs?

Well looks like my hatch is done. Not too bad. Out of the 66 that made it to lock down we have 39 little fuzz butts! The 2 people I hatched them for will pick them up in a week for 1 set and the following week for the other set. So I"all get to play "mama" for a couple weeks. One has a bad foot and I don't know if he"all make it. I've made the boot for his foot, he"all stand and walk around, but after a short time he lays down and rolls on his side and then lays there until I eight him again. In the meantime the other chicks run all over him like they don't notice him laying there. I fear I'll have to cull him. So sad.

All the others are healthy and beautiful. Only had 1 pip that didn't make it. All the other eggs will be candled and tossed tomorrow. I believe they are all quitters.

We eat them, breed them and sell them.

Alright heading into lockdown tomorrow (day 18 for the chickens and day 14 for the quail). This hatch has been rough. I started with 27 chicken eggs and 20 quail eggs. I'm now down to 12 chicken eggs and 15 quail. I really don't know what went wrong since everything was same as last time. I had 4 quitters, 3 blood rings and I guess the rest clears. The quail I'm not sure but there's no veins or dark areas so either clear or quitters. I have pretty big air cells on everything so I'm bringing the humidity up probably starting in the morning. It's been at 40% and now its 50% and I'll bring it to 65% tomorrow. I hope the quail and chicks hatch together ok. I hope tomorrow is the correct day to start lockdown. I set the chicken eggs Thurs April 29th and the quail June 2nd. Wish me luck
