This broody has been working so hard. Her original clutch of eggs failed, and this chick is from an egg my husband forgot to collect while I was out of town. She was on her nest for almost 40 days.

Today she took Junior outside for the first time.

Nice! Is she an Australorp? I realize this thread is a couple of months old, did this chick survive and is it a cockerel or a pullet? Can we get current pics?

Thanks for asking. No, she's actually a Black Copper Marans with only a tiny bit of copper.

Junior Birdman is a cockerel, and he's still with us, for now. (If anyone in Golden, Boulder, or Denver CO wants him, he's free). We will probably end up eating rooster soup this winter, but for now he's nice and gentle and totally submissive to his dad.

He's a handsome lad! Thanks for the update!
