Hi everyone!! I am getting eggs in October, and I need to ask you guys: What breeds are the best for New Mexico (heat tolerant AND cold tolerant!) If anyone knows, PLEASE let me know!!!!!
 
Black Australorp

Personality- Docile, quiet.
Class- English
Weight- 7-8 pounds.
Hardiness- Very hardy in heat and cold.
Egg Size / Production-
Large brown egg about 5+ times a week.

Rhode Island Red

Personality- Active but easily handled.
Class- American
Weight- 6-7 pounds.
Hardiness- Hardy in heat and cold.
Egg Size / Production- Large brown egg 5+ times a week.

Black Copper Maran / Rare

Personality- Gentle, intelligent.
Class- French
Weight- About 7 pounds.
Hardiness-
Depends on breed, generally heat and cold tolerant. (other breeds include the Cuckoo and Golden Cuckoo Maran.)
Egg Size / Production- Large very dark chocolate egg about 3-4 times a week. Another one of our favorites!

Delaware

Personality- Active, friendly (sometimes loud)
Class- American
Weight- 7-8 pounds.
Hardiness- Very hardy to heat and cold.
Egg Size / Production- Large light brown eggs about 4-5 times a week.

Blue Laced Red Wyandotte / Moderately Rare

Personality- Very sweet, docile.
Class- American
Weight- 6-7 pounds.
Hardiness- Very hardy to cold.
Egg Size / Production- Large brown egg about 4 times a week.

Ameraucana / Easter Egger (popular breed)

Personality- Docile
Class- Recently developed, mixed breed. (some say South America.)
Weight- About 5 pounds.
Hardiness- Cold and heat tolerant.
Egg Size / Production- Medium egg from turquoise to light and olive green tones, about 4 times a week. (Araucana's are a little different breed, they are rumpless with no tail and have feather tufts near their ears, and a tail.)
