New here, but not totally new to chickens. That said, I am always looking to learn more!

We have been without chickens for a couple of years and are ready for a new flock. Our home is within city limits, so it will be a small, backyard flock.

We have dogs, cats, and reptiles currently. But I miss my hens. ❤️

Looking forward to learning from the forums!

Hello, and welcome! What breed are you planning on getting?
Hi! Thank you!

We haven't totally decided on a breed(s). I was hoping to find a local hatchery or small farm to buy from - so would be limited to what they have available. I'm not certain about buying chicks from the large farm stores. And, the larger hatcheries have minimums that would make our flock too large (if we are going to stay w/in city regs).

I like heavier breeds though. I don't want small, flighty birds that get upset by our dogs. Large, mellow girls... that's what we need. :)

I understand. I like the larger dual-purpose breed's myself.

Welcome to BYC, balancingwishes! There is so much to see, do, and learn here!:welcome What reptiles do you have?
Hi! Thank you!

My daughter has a bearded dragon and a crested gecko. Ziggy, the bearded dragon, is so fun. He's actually been a great blessing for my daughter. She struggles with social anxiety, and he makes it easier for her to interact with people in public. You could say he is her emotional support dragon. 😁
